One Indonesian fan tweeted: “I’m excited for Rossa x Super Junior collab because I cannot wait to hear Shindong say something in Bahasa. His Bahasa is good I love it!”

Another wrote: “So Super junior will collab with Rossa ~~ looking forward for it!!”

It was also reported that a partnership between SM Entertainment, which manages Super Junior, and Indonesia’s CT Corp was established last Thursday in Jakarta.

SM Entertainment is South Korea’s biggest entertainment company, while CT Corp is a leading business group in the Indonesian media, retail and finance sectors.

Apparently, representatives from SM Entertainment, including its founder Lee Soo Man, had met up with the president of Trans Media and the chairman of CT Corp during the meeting for the partnership.

The working relationship between SM Entertainment and Trans Media, which is owned by CT Corp, is expected to promote the entry of SM Entertainment artistes into Indonesia, as well as to promote the production of Indonesian pop and video programmes.

This will also result in more collaborative work between Korean and Indonesian artistes with Super Junior and Rossa being the first step.

Other big Korean artistes under SM Entertainment include Shinee, Exo, Red Velvet and Girl’s Generation.

So fans of K-Pop in the region can look forward to more exciting collaborations between talented artistes from the two countries.

On Sept. 2018, PT Trans Media Corpora, part of Indonesian business tycoon Chairul Tanjung’s CT Corp., signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with South Korea-based SM Entertainment.

Both agreed to collaborate on talent management, visual content production, event production and a mobile platform.

In a press conference in Jakarta on Thursday, Chairul said that one of the purposes of the collaboration was to expose Indonesian artists to the world. Rossa is the first Indonesian singer to join SM Entertainment.

According to kompas.com, the two companies aim to develop local talent with international quality. SM Entertainment as one of the biggest agencies in South Korea is expected to provide insight on talent management, casting, training and marketing.

“We hope that with this partnership Indonesia can follow suit,” Chairul said.

Rossa and Super Junior will team up for a new single, with details yet to be revealed.

“I cannot wait to see what kind of collaboration we will have,” Rossa said on the same occasion. “Honestly, I am also nervous.” The singer has released 17 studio albums and is known for her strong voice and love ballads.

Super Junior’s Leeteuk said he admired Rossa.

“Rossa is well-known in Indonesia as well as Asia with 17 years of experience. This is an honor,” he said. Founded in 2005, Super Junior is a famous boy band from South Korea. They are often considered to be one of the groups that contributed to the global Korean Wave (hallyu). (wng)

On February 21, SM announced its plan to establish a joint venture with Trans Media, a comprehensive media company under CT Corp, at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Jakarta, Indonesia. CT Corp is a business group leading the media, finance, and retail sectors in Indonesia. Through their joint venture, they will focus on four areas including entertainment and content production, comprehensive advertising, lifestyle business, and digital business.

Rossa was introduced as the first artist to be recruited by the joint venture company, as well as news of her collaboration with Super Junior, which is scheduled for the second half of this year. Super Junior’s Leeteuk and Rossa attended the ceremony to express their expectations for future activities.

Rossa made her debut in 1996 and has won the Best Singer Award at various awards ceremonies. In September 2018, she participated in the main stage of the opening ceremony of the Asian Games in Jakarta and proved once again that she is a representative singer of Indonesia. Super Junior, one of the most beloved K-pop idols, is also much loved in Indonesia, and along with the collaboration project, they are expected to be more included in the joint venture projects.

Moreover, the joint venture plans to promote the entry of SM artists into Indonesia, the production of I-pop (Indonesian pop) contents through the discovery and recruitment of local artists, and the production of video programs, which are expected to bring about huge achievements by actively targeting the largest market in Asia with more than 100 million young consumers out of 260 million people.

In addition, chairman Chairul Tanjung of CT Corp, president Atik Nurwahuni of Trans Media, general producer Lee Soo Man of SM, CEO Han Se Min of SM, and branch manager Han Kyung Jin of SM South East Asia attended the ceremony.

Meanwhile, SM and CT Corp signed an MOU for joint business promotion in October of last year. The partnership between behemoth K-pop agency SM Entertainment and Indonesian media company Trans Media (along its parent company, CT Group), was signed last year but is finally starting to bear fruits for fans of Korean and Indonesian pop music.

As previously reported, the joint venture of the two media giants will take the form of, among others: talent management, advertising, content production, digital content distribution, and merchandising or lifestyle business. But their most ambitious project of all is birthing an Indonesian K-pop equivalent called I-pop.

It appears the first I-pop project will be a collaboration between the veteran boyband Super Junior (Suju) with renowned Indonesian singer Rossa, who became the first talent to be signed to the joint venture. Reports indicate that they will release a new song together sometime in the middle of this year.

The collaboration was confirmed by Suju’s leader, Leeteuk, through posts to his Instagram account that featured the hashtag #NantikanKami (#WatchOutForUs) hashtag.

Super Junior is among the second generation of talents from SM Entertainment, debuting in 2005. They have since become one of the country’s most iconic K-pop acts, helping to spread the Hallyu Wave all over the world.

Rossa is one of Indonesia’s most famous pop divas, with a career spanning over 22 years. Many of her songs were featured in Indonesian blockbusters such as Ayat-Ayat Cinta (Verses of Love), and she has been honored with the Dato’ Sri title in Malaysia.

Earlier this month, SM Entertainment opened its first Indonesian office at fX Sudirman mall in South Jakarta, much to the delight of the country’s legion of K-pop fans.

Sementara itu, musisi Addie MS mengaku bangga bisa terlibat dalam Asian Games karena merupakan ajang bersejarah bagi bangsa. “Kita terakhir (menggelar Asian Games) pada 1962. Setelah 50 tahun lebih, tentu betapa pentingnya event ini (Asian Games 2018),” ujar Addie MS.

“Ini suatu karunia buat saya, apalagi saya bekerja sama dengan orang-orang hebat Indonesia. Jadi saya berterima kasih,” ucap dia menambahkan.

Lagu itu ternyata adalah perkenalan Rossa atas rilisan terbarunya yang bertajuk A New Chapter. Dirilis Rabu (5/4) kemarin di KFC Kemang, Jakarta, album ini membawa Rossa ke kawasan baru dalam dua puluh satu tahun kariernya di industri musik tanah air.

A New Chapter berisi sembilan lagu, di mana empat di antaranya direkam di Los Angeles bersama Mitch Allan sebagai produser vokal. Mitch Allan adalah musisi, pencipta lagu, dan produser musik yang pernah bekerja sama dengan deretan penyanyi seperti Demi Lovato, Miley Cyrus, Jason Derulo, Pitbull, Fifth Harmony, Kelly Klarkson, dan Simple Plan.

Meski “Body Speak”–dibesut oleh tiga komponis Amerika Serikat: Steve Shebby, Joleen Belle, dan Michelle Buzz–secara simbolis menggambarkan perubahan Rossa, namun album terbarunya bisa terwujud karena dipicu oleh lagu “Jangan Hilangkan Dia” ciptaan vokalis D”MASIV, Rian Ekky Pradipta.

“Terus terang waktu itu aku ingin jual aset-asetku di Indonesia, aku mau pindah ke Australia. Aku benar-benar sudah nggak tahu lagi mau ngapain, semua sudah pernah aku lakukan. Tapi begitu aku dapat lagu ‘Jangan Hilangkan Dia’, aku mau bikin album yang beda sama album-album aku sebelumnya,” papar Rossa saat jumpa pers.

Sekadar informasi, “Jangan Hilangkan Dia” sendiri merupakan soundtrack untuk film berjudul I Love You from 38.000 Ft yang dirilis tahun 2016 lalu. “Ketika Rian kirim liriknya, kok bisa pas ya sama cerita di filmnya,” ujar Rossa.

Pertemuan Rossa dengan pencipta lagu dan produser musik berdarah India-Australia, Thusar Apte, saat berada di Bali juga menjadi titik balik dirinya mendapatkan semangat baru untuk membuat album.

Rossa mengungkapkan, “Thusar Apte ini yang bikin lagu buat Chris Brown dan Alicia Keys. Jadi aku bilang sama dia, ‘Thusar, kamu belum pernah bikin lagu buat penyanyi Indonesia kan?’ Terus dia bilang ‘Why not?’ Akhirnya aku kirim lagu ‘Jangan Hilangkan Dia’. Jadi aransemen musiknya dia yang buat.”

Selain mengajak Rian D”MASIV dan Thusar Apte, album baru Rossa juga diramaikan oleh deretan musisi dalam negeri lain, mulai dari Pay dan Dewiq untuk lagu “T’lah Mencoba”, Taufik Batisah pada “Bukan Maksudku”, David Sam untuk nomor “Cinta dalam Hidupku”, dan Aji Mirza Hakim atau lebih dikenal sebagai Icha eks-Jikustik pada “Satu Hal yang Bodoh”.

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Penyanyi Rossa kembali menorehkan prestasi di dunia musik Asia. Ia terpilih menjadi artis Indonesia pertama yang tampil di acara MTV Asia Spotlight. Penayangan video klip single terbarunya, Body Speak, pun ditayangkan di salah satu saluran musik terpopuler MTV Asia.

Rossa menceritakan bagaimana awal mula dirinya bisa terpilih menjadi artis Indonesia pertama yang tampil dalam acara MTV Asia Spotlight. “Kita ke Singapura untuk syuting beberapa acara MTV Asia. Kayaknya lagu ini secara akustik memang diterima. MTV Asia suka banget,” ujar Rossa di KFC Kemang, Jakarta Selatan, Rabu, 5 April 2017.

Penyanyi berdarah Sunda ini mengatakan go-international merupakan cita-cita banyak musisi lokal. “Aku, kan enggak dikasih izin tinggal di luar negeri jadi aku mikir, jalannya harus gimana. Gimana bikin sesuatu karya yang bagus supaya dunia bisa lihat,” kata dia.

Pelantun Ayat-Ayat Cinta ini mengaku sangat bangga atas pencapaian yang ia raih saat ini. Pasalnya, tak hanya masyarakat dari Asia Tenggara saja yang dapat menyaksikan penampilan Rossa. Warga negara di benua Asia seperrti Jepang, Hong Kong, maupun Korea Selatan dapat pula menikmati lagu Rossa.

“Aku bangga dan bisa bilang ke dunia bahwa industri musik Indonesa punya banyak penyanyi yang potensial dan membanggakan,” katanya.

Ia berharap, dengan terpilihnya ia menjadi penyanyi pertama yang tampil dalam MTV Asia Spotlight dapat membuka jalan bagi musisi lainnya untuk berkarir di dunia musik internasional.
